Before you make
your big investment be sure to take the vehicle on a test drive.
Even new purchases will differ in ride quality with comparable
wheels and tires (some trucks and SUVs can be equipped with
larger wheels and tires which usually can decrease the riding
quality). If the vehicle you are shopping for is not listed as
an “As Is” vehicle then you will usually have a limited warranty
for peace of mind. During that time, you need to make sure that
it performs to your satisfaction. Be sure to ask the salesman or
seller what kind of return or fix it options are available
during its limited warranty.
Some obvious signs of a sick vehicle are usually noticeable. Be
sure to keep an eye and ear out for the following:
Noises from the engine
A lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe(s)
The transmission doesn’t lock in smoothly or jumps when in the
same gear
The vehicle shakes when the brakes are applied
